Sarah Ahmed

Degree & Year Graduated

B.S., Computer Science 2010

How did you become interested in your field?

Robotics Club my senior year of high school.

What do you do for a living now? What do you enjoy most about your current career position?

Software Developer and I love coding, solving design issues and wowing my clients with the end product.

What is the best professional lesson you learned from the Computer Science Department?

If you don’t get it the first time, apply yourself harder again.

What was the best class you took? Did you have a favorite Professor?

Best class was Data Structures, because I failed it the first time I took it with Alan Riggins. I studied the next semester while taking other classes, retook the class and passed with an A. My favorite professor was, and still is Alan Riggins. His attitude was always, its harder out there than here in class.

What is your favorite memory from the time spent in the department?

My favorite memory was sitting outside Professor Carroll’s office for algorithms with tons of other students all trying to figure out the same problem. And not really getting anywhere. 🙂

What advice do you have for our current students?

If you fail a course, a test, a midterm, or even a final; pick yourself up, dust off your shoulders and apply yourself twice as hard. Like people say, if there’s a will there’s a way — and you can only get that way when you don’t quit when it gets tough.
