Computational Chemistry PositionSAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY The Department of Computer Science at San Diego State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Computational Chemistry beginning August 2008. Salary is negotiable. Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Computer Science or a closely related field. Candidates are expected to have a demonstrated ability in innovative research; demonstrated ability in securing external funding is a plus. SDSU's College of Sciences, which includes Computer Science, has active research groups in experimental and computational chemistry, biochemistry, molecular physics, and applied mathematics. The College also houses the Computational Sciences Research Center, an interdisciplinary consortium of faculty that supports high-performance computing and visualization resources and hosts several degree programs, including a Ph.D. The successful candidate must have teaching and research interests in Computational Chemistry, and must also be a computer scientist who can teach a variety of core courses in the CS curriculum. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach upper-division and graduate courses in areas such as computer networks and operating systems.
