Abstract:
The goal of Smart Search project is to research and develop a search builder application for the Language Acquisition Resource Center at San Diego State University. Smart Search provides LARC faculty with the power to build their own customized search engine for LARC's projects with personalized results. Uniqueness of this project lies in the fact that Smart Search user is not restricted to build one search engine. They are free to create, customize and maintain as many searches as they wish to. Although LARC faculty is free to create as many search engines as they please, they are, however, subjected to act only on search criteria approved by Smart Search administrator. Smart Search introduces a special administrative account for LARC database administrator to aid monitoring and controlling LARC faculty members' activities and redefine or create new search criteria. In a nutshell, Smart Search makes for a powerful centralized search builder tool with easy maintenance and integration with existing LARC projects.
