Abstract:
The dynamic media data management tool for woman?s voices contains and manages media files of various women interviewing in different languages from around the world. The target audience are people who are learning languages and who would like to be exposed to different viewpoints and perspectives on a variety of subjects from woman around the world. The system allows the contributors and teachers to access it remotely and upload interviews which will be stored in a visual media file. Students will be able to access the collected media information through the internet. By first selecting the desired country, language, the user can navigate towards the question in a specific area and will be able to visually review video files with different interviews from different woman, about the particular selected question.

These files are stored in the Language Acquisition Resource Center (LARC) server in the form of media files. The back-end database used in the development of the project is MySQL and the web development of the dynamic pages uses the programming language PHP. An important factor for displaying different character sets and foreign languages was the use of Unicode. Different development techniques were followed to allow the production of such a system. Strategies such as object oriented programming and the use of UML diagrams and Entity Relationship diagrams (ERD) between different tables within the database were used. The architectural pattern used in this project is the Model-view-controller (MVC) which helps to separate the data (model) and user interface (view) so that changes to the user interface will not affect data handling, and the data can be reorganized without changing the user interface.
