Abstract:
GIS Teaching Aid is a tool that is designed to show geographical data in a kid friendly format. The tool has been laid out so that it is easy to navigate, with bold and big text and icons to capture children's attention and excite them to explore further. The tool incorporates a game along with educational screens to provide the children an opportunity to exercise what they have learned in a fun way. The tool has been designed with the teachers in mind also; the data depicted in the educational screens and game is easily configurable. This provides an opportunity for the tool to be adopted widely, as the tool provides a container which can depict varied forms of geographical data, which can be added and removed easily. The motivation behind the development of this software is a need for providing school teachers a tool which can represent the geographical data in a form which inspires children to learn and explore. The tools for geographical data representation that are available in the market today such as Google Earth are not simple to use creatively and cannot be configured with ease to show the relevant data only.
