Abstract:
With changing culture, one of the biggest challenges faced by school teachers is keeping children interested in reading books and keeping them mentally engaged in the subject. The internet offers one way to enhance student interest with a technology that already absorbs their time. The initiative behind the development of this tool is to develop a software program which provides high school teachers an easy and interactive way to represent Cold War related data in American history. It can be used for describing data in a graphical fashion on a map, by linking the data to various geographical features. This tool hopefully will motivate students to learn information about Cold War. It includes data in the form of text, pictures, cartoons, videos and links to various related web information.

Cold War GIS tool has been designed to easily navigate and access information. It exhibits information in bold text and pictures to capture children?s attention and motivate them to explore further. The tool also incorporates an interactive quiz to provide the children an opportunity to analyze what they have learned. The tool is flexible and can be modified easily by tutors. It is an all-in-one graphic interface tool to help students understand and learn Cold War in a fun and loving way.
