Abstract:
What is the best way to learn a language? Many language teachers agree that immersion is an excellent way to learn a language. What if we bring the immersion experience of learning a language to your finger tips?We present CLIP DGI, a web based socio-technical system.

CLIP DGI extends dynamic content for critical language databases to social networking (Blogging, chatting) and online video editing. It helps its users, the faculty and learners, to interact among themselves and with colleagues/peers by retroactively reviewing, posting and sharing current language archival resources, or by collecting, annotating, editing, posting and sharing new resources.

The tool, permits users to upload new videos or select from current videos and drag and drop these scenarios to sequence them in an assigned or storytelling order. These new sequences can then be saved for evaluation and/or social sharing and presentation. The iterative process permits users to edit and remix with new audio, related photos and graphics, and existing video or computer-captured video scenes (iSight & other direct inline dv cameras.
