Abstract:
This Thesis focuses on creating a GIS tool for Department of American Indian Studies showing contributions and Lifetime of some American Indian Olympic Winners on a Timeline basis on US Map and World Map. This tool is made with the help of MOJO (Map Objects for JAVA) provided by ESRI. This is going to be a first kind Computer Aided GIS Tool to be used by the Department of American Indian Studies. It’s going to teach the students about the Lifetime of Billy Mills and Jim Thorpe, two great American Indian Olympic Winners. This would be helpful for students who would want to learn in an interactive way. This would be beneficial for a class of large number of students where it gets difficult to teach.

Just not the students but it’s also a great tool that teachers can use teaching the class with help of Multimedia (Audios, Videos and Pictures). The basic idea is to provide Hotlinks on the Map which will be shown as points on a particular co-ordinate, and by clicking on those points they can have access to all the data behind. The tool provides a fun environment for students where they can also easily change the some part of the environment following some instructions which have been provided with the Help section of the tool. Everything comes explained with tool so that there is no difficulty making full use out of it. It’s always easy to learn from a Geographical based Information System and that is the effort which I have tried to put in creating this application.
