Contest Rules
Deadlines
Deadline for submission of solutions is given with the problems. Solutions must be turned in at the math office-GMCS413 by the deadline to be considered. Place your solution in an envelope, include your name, student ID number, date, address, phone and email address.
Criteria for Winning
You can provide either a mathematical or a computer solution. The winner will be the most "elegant" solution, as determined by the official judge. Accordingly, the solution should be written as clearly and neatly as possible. In the event that the mathematical and the computer solutions differ significantly, a winner will be chosen in each category.
Eligibility
Undergraduates only are eligible for this contest.
If two or more students collaborate on a solution, only one prize will be
awarded. Students may only collaborate with other undergraduates. No other help
is allowed.
Prize
The winners receive a book of their choice from the collection in the department office. A sample of these books can be seen in the BAM lobby display case. In addition, all correct undergraduate solutions and the best graduate solution receive a T-shirt. The
winning solution will be posted, adding to the fame of the winning student.
