What is GIScience
GIScience is an emerging specialization that combines various
aspects of computer science with geographic information systems
(GIS), remote sensing, cartographic visualization, spatial
statistics, and global positioning systems (GPS) in studying and
solving geographical problems. This Certificate in GISciences is
made possible through the joint efforts of the Department's of
Geography and Computer Science who have combined forces to offer
one of the premier programs of its type in the United States.
The purpose of the program is to prepare students to capture,
manage, analyze, and visualize geospatial data in public and
private organizations.
